396 daisies

There are 396 daisies in this big Spring DIY. It's been hard even counting them! Do you want to know how I did it?

I couldn't find a basic white bodycon skirt, so I had to do mine out of a t-shirt. I used another skirt as a model.

What do you need?
Artificial daisies, white skirt, thread, textile glue and scissors.

I recommend you buying a flower ball like the one I used (in the picture below). For this project we don't need stems, only the flower, so buying a few bunches of daisies would be much more expensive. I found mine on Bossvi, it's a store in Barcelona, but they also have online store.
Artificial flowers are made of a fabric corolla and a plastic structure which is not usually glued. Cut the plastic green calyx to dismantle the flower.
Sew each flower with three or four stitches. I sewed them independently because the fabric of the skirt is elastic, if we sewed them together, using the same thread, it could break while putting the skirt on. Next, cut the stem remnants from the yellow piece (do this as accurately as possible, you'll need a flat surface for the glue). Finally, stick the yellow centers with a strong textile glue (I used Gütermann's).
You can optionally add some beads on the waist, I used some left over from my Burberry Prorsum inspired sweater. I do recognize that this DIY really hard... But you can use this technique for many other projects (shoes, bags, the sleeves of a t-shirt...)

Do you guys dare with this super spring DIY?

A Tiny Piece of Spring

Here is my big DIY of the season! A skirt made of fabric daisies. This has been one of those projects that come to your mind and make you feel an strange obsession for making them come true. In the next post I'll show you how to do it, it's not as simple as it seems. Actually, the skirt I used as a base was made out of a t-shirt.

For this post, I've had the pleasure to work with Mariona Olmos, a great photographer and a great friend. Mariona is awesome on everything she does, but moreover, she is one of those especial people who, just by staying by your side, shows you a new perspective of everything. The turning point is on finding people like her, one day, for some reason, you are happier... In her Flickr you'll find absolutely amazing pictures, full of energy and life.  It's really worth it following her on Facebook or Twitter. I had to share Mariona with you guys, enjoy her work!

I thought that the moment of finishing this was never going to arrive! The hardest step was to sew all the daisies... When I counted them I coudn't believe it! Can you guys guess how many daisies are on this skirt? Make your bets!

I hope you guys like this!

You can't stop the spring

You can try to run away from what's happening beyond your eyes, but you'll never be able to stop the spring, nor the rain, nor the whistle of the growing grass... You will never be able to catch something thicker than your memories. We fall in love with things slipping through our fingers because we know they're not going to last forever. That's their beauty, they are little pieces of time that will never come back, or maybe yes, but never in the same way.

Those are my references, my inspiration for the big DIY of the season. It's coming tomorrow, are you ready?? Can't wait to show you

Cashmere Rehab

Lee esto en Castellano
As you might have seen on my last outfit, I finally did a DIY inspired by Burberry Prorsum. Thanks to this wooden beads I've made a rehab of a basic cashmere jumper. Mine was one of those garments that look great when you don't want to think about what to wear, but they're also a little bit boring. Now it's a VIG (Very Important Garment) in my wardrobe.
Most important step!! Use tailor chalk to mark a guide line for sewing the beads. I thought that was unnecessary and I started sewing directly. What I got looked asymmetric and chaotic, so I had to unpick everything and sew it again...

In the end, things usually turn out well :)

The best DIY of the Week V

This week I'm doing an exception about the general subject matter of this blog and this particular section: I'm not talking about fashion because I think this decoration DIY project deserves a special mention. I'm absolutely impressed by this lamp made with paper cupcake liners. Of course I'm saving this in my favorites folder, and I'll be doing it as soon as I can. It's amazing to see how it's possible to get such a stunning result with such a simple supply. I can only congratulate Poppy House, the blogger who made this DIY wonder.

A walk through the old quarter

I never get tired of full skirts!! They are quietly conquering more and more space in my wardrobe, I just can't help it! This a comfortable outfit I wore for a walk with a friend, before going to class. We got lost into the quaint and hectic streets of Raval and Barri Gòtic (Gothic Quarter) in Barcelona.

This post is actually a sneak peek of what is about to come. The jumper I'm wearing will be the small DIY of next week, inspired by Burberry Prorsum. But there will also be a big big big DIY! It's a very special project I've been obsessed with since I started this blogger adventure. Finding the supplies was difficult, but the process was a real odyssey. Can't wait to show you! Have a nice Weekend!

I can't remember where I saw the idea of combining velvet and cotton on a t-shirt, but I just couldn't get it out of my head. I started this DIY a long time ago, but it exasperated me: my sewing machine (or maybe my limited sewing skills) didn't work well with velvet: what I got was a complete disaster. I had never in my whole life sewed a sleeve, and when I discovered how to do it, I was absolutely fed up with experimenting... so I gave in. A few days ago I decided to get down to it again, so here it is!

Has this ever happened to you guys?

DIY Inspiration: The shoe issue

Today I'm in the mood for sharing some of the inspirational pics that I might use someday for my DIY's. This is just a short swatch from all the messy inspiring folders of my laptop. ¡Today's issue is my personal addiction to shoes!

Are you a shoeaholic? Would you dare to DIY one of these shoes?

The best DIY of the Week IV

This time, the DIY of the week comes from A Pair & a Spare. This blog is for me the maximum reference of how a Fashion or a DIY blog should be. Geneva, the blogger behind, has a great personal style: very eclectic and vintage with a strong influence of her amazing trips trough Asia. Her projects are always surprising: she can make a skirt out of a rug or even a extreme dress make over.

The project she did this week is quite easy, but the result is wonderful. She is such a great fan of neon colors, but pastels or metallics would also look good.
